Wondering which tour program to take for your upcoming visit to Phuket?
I’ve got you covered. No sponsored.
Here’s my experiences with a few programs plus some tips I wish someone had told me before I set out.
Table of Content:
Program 1: Koh Phi Phi Island Tour
Phuket island tour for friends and family
I kicked off my Phuket journey with a day trip to the Phi Phi Islands.
At the pier, an endless supply of snacks and food waiting for you. I loaded up.
We hopped on a speedboat. Feeling the wind in my hair and watching the land blur away was the perfect start.
Our first island stop was Koh Khai. It’s not a big place.
There’s this chic café right by the sea. Picture yourself sipping a cold beer, toes in the sand. That was me, living the dream.
The vibe here is perfect for anyone who wants to chill or dive into some water sports like speeding on a banana boat or trying out parasailing.
Then we moved on to Koh Phi Phi Don. It’s a hotspot for tourists, which means it was buzzing with energy.
It felt a bit crowded for me. I think if you didn’t stop here, you wouldn’t have missed much.
Koh Phi Phi Leh—now, that’s a highlight!
It’s part of a national park, so everything’s pristine and postcard-perfect. If you’re into photography, this place is your paradise.
You can sit on the front of a longtail boat to take this popular shot as I did.
Snorkeling was up next.
The underwater scene was alive with colorful fish and coral.
Even saw some sea urchins and clownfish down there!
The boat crew had life jackets and ropes ready, so even if you’re not confident in the water, you’re all good.
Our last stop was Maya Bay. It took us a bit to walk from the pier to the beach, but every step was worth it when you’re greeted with stunning views.
I just sat there, soaking it all in, wishing I could freeze time.
Activity Summary
- Cafe hopping
- Snorkeling
- Sightseeing
- Water activities e.g. banana boat, speed boat, canoeing
Overall, I’d give this trip a solid 4.9 out of 5.
The beauty of nature here blew me away, and I got to do everything I wanted.
Though, I think next time I might go for a private tour to avoid the crowds and spend more time at my favorite spots.
Program 2: Koh Racha Island Tour
Phuket island tour on Catamaran boat for friends and family
This catamaran boat is more enjoyable than any ferry ride you’ve ever taken.
The boat was stunning, with various cozy spots to settle in and admire the ever-changing views. The best spot was right at the front.
Having a photographer onboard was a game-changer.
Since I was with my mom, we got some memorable pictures together, making the experience even more special.
When we reached the Racha island, I dove straight into the water activities. I chose scuba diving, walking out from the beach with an instructor by my side.
I didn’t see as many fish or corals as I’d hoped.
It felt like an adventure, sure, but for seasoned divers, this spot might not be the most exciting.
Next, the boat took us to Hey Island, perfect for water activities but with a completely different view.
Clear Kayaking and Paddle boarding were popular. The photographer followed, capturing every moment, which was pretty cool.
After all the excitement, we wound down with some chill time on the boat, fishing and watching the sunset at Cape Promthep.
Activity Summary
- Water activities: Clear Kayaking, Paddle Board
- Fishing on the yatch
- Scuba diving
- Photoshoot on the yatch
Wrapping up this trip, I’d give it 4.5 out of 5.
The boat was beautiful, and the island tour was well-organized, covering all the highlights smoothly.
The scenery didn’t match up to Program 1, and I’m deducting points for the fishing activity. Catching and then releasing fish didn’t sit right with me.
Eco-friendly activities would have been preferable.
Program 3: Phang Nga Island Tour
Phuket island tour for friends, family and couples
We rent a car for a trip across the province, and it turned out to be the beginning of this special island tour. (This time we booked a private tour)
Our adventure started with a boat ride in Phang Nga, heading first to a floating restaurant for some delicious food, and then stopping to buy some pearl products.
The area’s full of pearl farms, making pearls here quite affordable.
After that, we visited a floating football field where local kids were having a blast playing.
If the ball went into the water, they’d just dive in after it and keep the game going. This was incredibly fun and a fantastic atmosphere.
Our journey continued to James Bond Island and Khao Phing Kan (It means the mountains that layover another one).
Several members of the Thai royal family had visited the place, leaving their signatures on the walls.
It was like walking through a piece of history.
Then, we took in the sights of Khao Tapu, the iconic limestone monolith standing tall in the middle of the water.
This place offers some of the most stunning views I’ve ever seen in my life and has been featured in James Bond movies.
Activity Summary
- Short walk
- Sightseeing (Best view!)
- Enjoying the boat
- Engage with the local communities
Overall, I’d rate this trip a solid 5/5.
Even though we spent a lot of time on the boat, every location we visited was breathtakingly beautiful and filled with excitement.
It was an unforgettable day of fun.
Handy Tips I Picked Up
- Wear your swimsuit under your clothes (For program 1 and program 2)
- Pack light and bring chips. Snacks on the islands can be pricey.
- Book online in advance. It’s usually cheaper than booking through the hotel
- For ladies, bring the hair-tie and braid your hair before hitting the water. Trust me, it makes life easier.
Who’ll love these trips?
It’s for anyone looking for adventure, stunning views, and a bit of relaxation.
Friends, families, couples – there’s something here for everyone.
